Nachdem Ru'afo am Freitag schon diesen Link in die Shoutbox gestellt hatte wollte ich da doch nochmal näher drauf eingehen.
In dem Artikel bzw. Interview (dessen Seite gerade nicht lädt :/) spricht Ronald D. Moore, einer der Produzenten unter Anderem von TNG und DS9 über Star Trek im Allgemeinen, die Unterschiede zwischen den Serien und Filmen und wie die Serien immer das Herzstück von Star Trek waren und sein sollten.
Hier mal seine Antwort auf die Frage, ob Star Trek in's TV zurückkehren sollte (leider nur Englisch, weil die deutsche Seite nicht lädt):

What makes a man a man? Is it his good side? His bad side? Or how the two come together to make something greater than the sum of its parts? The movies will never do that. They’ll never do a day-in-the-life story with Data or something like “Lower Decks,” where you go explore the other characters. They’ll never do all the things that all of us who are fans fell in love with this franchise for. So I think, at some point, Star Trek will return to television, and that would be great. I’d love to watch the weekly adventures again just because it gives you an opportunity to explore lots of other things besides the action-adventure component.
Und ich finde damit hat er absolut Recht. So toll die Filme wie "Frist Contact" etc. auch sind und waren, im Grunde sind es doch die Episoden, die Star Trek und wofür es steht ausmacht - und die für ein ganz anderes Publikum gemacht werden als die Filme. Klar gab es auch in den Serien immer wieder Episoden, die mehr von Action und Raumschlachten lebten als von den wirklichen Dialogen und Hintergründen (gerade in den letzten DS9-Staffeln oder teilweise in Voyager), trotzdem stand im Großen und Ganzen doch immer die Erforschung, die Diskussion über Prinzipien und Moral im Vordergrund; etwas das in den Filmen (gerade im letzten) doch eher in den Hintergrund getreten ist. Aus dieser Sichtweise finde ich den Film letztlich auch gar nicht mehr so schlecht, der ist eben für eine ganz andere Zielgruppe gemacht.
